Higher education accreditation is an assessment process of the institution as a whole. The goal is to find out the institution’s commitment to academic administration and institutional management based on established standards. The accreditation process is carried out by the National Higher Education Accreditation Board (BAN-PT) for all tertiary institutions in Indonesia.
This is an implementation of Law Number 12 of 2012 concerning Higher Education. Medan Area University (UMA) received a visitation from the Higher Education Institution Accreditation Assessment Team (AIPT) (Saturday 22 September 2018), they consisted of Prof. Dr. Ir. Imas Siti Setiasih, SU Professor of Food Technology, Faculty of Agricultural Industrial Technology (FTIP) Unpad, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan from Syiah Kuala University (Unsyiah).
This visitation is carried out to review the facilities and infrastructure, the information system on campus which is part of one of the established standards, an assessment of the accreditation that must be met and then to evaluate the implementation of the assessment.
The assessment standard was carried out by the AIPT assessor team while visiting the University of Medan Area, according to the explanation by the head of LPM Prof. Dr. Dadan Ramdan, M.Eng, M.Sc, when interviewed, namely, first in the form of University governance which is adjusted to the policies made by the rector, both academic, financial, facilities and infrastructure, then continue to develop information systems that support learning, student services and UMA academic community.
Medan Area University has made efforts in providing services, and made various achievements, one of which is becoming a healthy private university in the Kopertis I area of North Sumatra. All of the Medan Area University academic community hopes that during this visit, they will receive direction and input from the assessors to get an A for AIPT at the University of Medan Area.
